ABOUT ME
Stephens (a.k.a. "B-Stevez") currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance for the Idaho State Bengals. Prior to the title change, Stephens took over as Idaho State's Director of Strength & Conditioning in January of 2021. He was previously hired in March of 2020 as ISU's Assistant Director, Strength & Conditioning. In his short time as the Director, Stephens has helped develop 81 All-Big Sky athletes, 1 Big Sky Co-Defensive Player of the Year, 3 Big Sky Freshman of the Year, 1 Big Sky Outstanding Freshman, 2 Big Sky Newcomer of the Year, 1 Big Sky Most Outstanding Performer, 2 All-Americans, 20 Big Sky Champions, assisted the back-to-back Big Sky Champions Women's Basketball teams, assisted the Big Sky Champion Women's Softball team, and 2 professional athletes including Miami Dolphins Tight End, Tanner Conner, and Free Agent Tight End, Jared Scott. He comes to Pocatello from Western Colorado where he was named the university's first full-time strength and conditioning coach in 2017. Prior to his hiring at WCU, he worked as a graduate assistant from 2015-17.
During his three years as Western's strength and conditioning coach, Stephens has helped develop 108 All-RMAC athletes, 4 RMAC Athletes of the Year, 30 All-Americans, 6 National Champions, and 6 professional athletes including Los Angeles Chargers running back, Austin Ekeler, NFL free-agent, Isaiah Jackson, Seinajoki Crocodiles quarterback, Brett Arrivey, Swan City Titans quarterback, Ty Henry, Swan City Titans wide receiver, Travis Haney, and US Championship qualifier, Susan Jackson.While working as a graduate assistant, Stephens oversaw the programming and training of the Mountaineer Football, Wrestling, Volleyball, Men's and Women's Basketball teams. In 2017, he obtained his Masters of Science degree in High Altitude Exercise Physiology and was part of the program's first graduating class.Stephens, a native of Gunnison, Colorado, graduated from Western State Colorado University in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science emphasizing in Exercise Science as well as Sport Marketing and Management. He graduated from Gunnison High in 2009.Before sustaining a career-ending shoulder injury in 2012, Stephens was a one-year starter for the Mountaineers at outside linebacker and played multiple positions on special teams. After his playing career ended, he joined Coach Bains' football staff as a Volunteer Student-Assistant both on the field and in the weight room. Stephens ran individual drills for various positons, scout team meetings and practices while assisting with game breakdowns, scouting reports and pre-game warm-ups.Stephens holds his CSCS with distinction and RSCC certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, is a Certified Strength Coach – Level 1 through Eleiko Education, is a certified Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting, and is Sports Science Certified through TeamBuildr.Brandon is currently working on obtaining his Pn1 certification through Precision Nutrition, his MPM certification through Brian Cain Peak Performance, and is considering pursuing certification through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, as well as a PhD related to sport psychology and/or neuroscience.Brandon is married to his longtime girlfriend and college sweetheart, Kyra. They currently live together in Pocatello, Idaho with their pup, Gambit.
